CR-5000 Series for Outdoor Dog Houses
We have been getting the question "Is the CR-5000 series really suitable for outdoor dog and pet houses?"
THE ANSWER IS YES!
All of our products are thoroughly testing before being released. We're happy to share our results. The pet house we tested on is about 19 cu ft (or 2ft long by 3.5 ft wide and 2.5ft high) and is made of cedar or some other light grained wood, has no insulation, and has standard roofing shingles on top.
The dog house was set up in full sun on the asphalt and allowed to reach 100 degrees on the inside, which didn't take long. We set the CR-5000-AC up, affixed our sensors inside and started our testing cycle. For this test we set the unit to maintain an average temperature of 72 degrees.
The CR-5000-AC cooled down the space pretty quickly and evenly. By using the diffuser (which comes standard in the kit and is pictured below) we were able to safely and evenly bring the temperature down to a comfortable level. The Climateright A/C unit stayed pretty active and cycled frequently due to the dog house lacking any insulation and the outside ambient temperature in the 90’s. During the test the CR-5000-AC performed perfectly and never allowed the average temp to reach above 80 degrees in between cycles.
In order to get maximum life out of the compressor, the unit is designed to run for a minimum of three minutes before it kicks off. Because of that we found that the unit would actually reduce the inside temp below the set temp on the control panel. Due to the protection failsafe, the unit will reduce the inside tempature about 6 degrees below the setting on the control panel. So while the unit will run at least three minutes it will not be constantly cooling and will only cool when needed.
